PB role: owner’s engineer and infrastructure design management
CS Energy’s Kogan Creek Power Station is located on a coal field near Chinchilla, west of Brisbane. The 750 MW, single-machine, baseload station generates electricity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing 7% of Queensland’s demand and also supplying power to New South Wales. A new 2.8 million tonne per annum coal mine delivers coal to the power station via a 4 km conveyor belt. A 28 km, 275 kV transmission line connects the station to the national electricity market.
As owner’s engineer for Kogan Creek, PB Power (PB’s energy arm) was responsible for reviewing the detailed design and supervising on-site construction, testing and commissioning. PB is now providing services to CS Energy at Kogan Creek during the defects liability period for the power station.
PB was also owner’s engineer for the infrastructure design on the $1.2 billion project, drawing on expertise in the full range of engineering disciplines, from civil, mechanical, structural and electrical, to environmental compliance.
