Community feedback

Greater Shepparton City Council, Moira Shire Council and the Shire of Campaspe are currently undertaking a significant regional planning process in order to develop a consistent response to the management of rural land. This project is known as the Campaspe, Greater Shepparton and Moira Regional Rural Land Use Strategy (RRLUS).

The RRLUS involves a detailed analysis of the land use patterns, social and economic trends, environmental assets, and the planning and policy framework that governs use and development of rural land within the region.

A draft RRLUS for the study area has now been prepared. The strategy outlines recommendations for the future management of rural land within the three municipalities based on findings of a detailed assessment of agriculture in the region, land use planning and consultation.

The key recommendations of the RRLUS include adoption of the Farming Zone, Rural Conservation Zone and Rural Activity Zone across the land subject to the provisions of the existing suite of rural zones.
