The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is proposing dual carriageway bypasses of Tarcutta, Holbrook and Woomargama to improve safety and transport efficiency.

Under AusLink, the National Land Transport Plan, the Australian Government is committed to upgrading the entire length of the Hume Highway to a four-lane divided carriageway by 2012. Construction of the bypasses is currently scheduled to commence during 2009/10.
